Become a newcomer's buddy

De Regenboog Groep is getting more and more applications from newcomers who could use a buddy.

These are newcomers who have mostly fled from Yemen, Syria, Iran or Eritrea. Many are still in procedure, which means you are not allowed to study or work.

These people crave social contact: having fun, getting to know the city, going out together or just being distracted.

• You live in or near Amsterdam
• You speak Dutch and English
• Speaking Arabic, Tigrinya or Farsi is a plus (but not a requirement)
• You are committed to the target group and can deal with cultural differences
• You want to make time for someone once a week or every two weeks for a period of at least six months

• Professional guidance from experienced colleagues
• Training through the Volunteer Academy (free of charge)
• Expense reimbursement
• And perhaps most importantly: you make a real difference to someone

Together with your buddy, you determine where and when you will meet together. Expect to meet at least once a week or fortnight for part of the day.
