Downstream Processing Lead

Farmless is a fast-growing, venture-backed startup with an ambitious mission to brew proteins on a planetary scale. We do this by vertically integrating food production: simple feed stocks in, nutritious and tasty proteins out. In this role, you will spearhead the downstream processing of our fermented broth. From designing and building upon the first DSP iterations to constructing Farmless’ first-of-a-kind protein brewery, you will lead the way.

• Design, construct and operate our downstream processing.
• Determine which drying methods are most suitable for our fermentation process.
• Optimize DSP process for yields and food functionality at scale.
• Source equipment and get it operational.

• Proven track record in pasteurization, centrifugation, drying, etc. in an industrial setting.
• Experience in setting up and/or operating DSP processes fulfilling all food quality & safety requirements.
• Ability to think from first principles.
• Knowledge of optimizing for speed AND costs.
• Ability to identify risks while understanding the limits of how far they can go.
• Excitement for our mission of revolutionizing food production.
• Able to understand and dive into other topics such as fermentation and food application.
• Previous startup experience is greatly appreciated.
