Position: Internals Only:  External Engagement Coordinator
Mission
The External Engagement Coordinator ensures War Child is strategically present, well‑prepared, and effective across a wide range of external engagements, including events, partnerships, panels, meetings, and speaking opportunities. Combining strong coordination and logistical skills with a strategic, forward‑looking mindset, the role supports opportunities to pursue and ensures War Child shows up with clarity, purpose, and impact. The role brings together people, planning, content, policy, and follow‑up so that every engagement is well‑executed and generates learning.

What You Will Do

Create targeted campaigns for institutions, philanthropists, foundations and corporates and produce high‑quality narratives, presentations, pitches, and brand assets.

Monitor and evaluate the impact of strategies.

Lead logistics and content coordination for War Child’s presence at a range of events including Davos, UNGA and other global events in collaboration with IMT, Advocacy, Communications and Institutional Fundraising.

Lead on and coordinate the development of presentations, speaking points, briefing packs and executive materials.

With support from the wider Communications Team create compelling content for events that highlight War Child as a global leader in children’s mental health, education and protection.

With support of the wider External Engagement Department, develop targeted thought leadership and engagement initiatives that highlight War Child’s expertise and approaches.

Support senior leadership and Institutional Funding teams with donor‑ready materials and value propositions.

Support the War Child Alliance Foundation Engagement Department on shared assets and collaborate on team projects.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Marketing and Communications support to the Advocacy and Institutional Fundraising Team to raise the profile of War Child's value proposition to key stakeholders and markets.

Coordinate War Child’s presence at global events including UNGA and DAVOS, produce relevant marketing material and attend events as needed.

Contribute to War Child Alliance’s external positioning and engagement, ensuring the organisation is strategically present, well‑prepared, and impactful across events, partnerships, and stakeholder interactions.

Work with a degree of autonomy within defined strategies and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and develop high‑quality narratives, presentations, and engagement materials.

Apply creativity and judgment to event and engagement communication plans that effectively position War Child externally.

Maintain understanding of donor ecosystems, evidence‑based programming, and partnership approaches to translate complex information into compelling narratives.

Work with an awareness that errors may impact organisational reputation, quality of engagement, and effectiveness of stakeholder interactions.

Profile
Experience

Experience in delivering B2B marketing.

Experience supporting senior leaders at high‑level events, e.g. UNGA.

Experience with design or digital agencies.

Experience in humanitarian, development, or social impact sectors (desirable).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Excellent writing and content production skills.

Ability to translate research, programme evidence and partner‑led insights into compelling narratives.

Exceptional project management skills.

Understanding of donor ecosystems and evidence‑based programming.

Proficiency in InDesign, Canva.

Languages

Excellent English.

Regional languages of WCA desirable.
