Postdoc (m/f/x)

The goal of the project is to enable digital twins for cultural heritage based on multi-modal data (CT, photogrammetry, text, biometrics, ...). The vision of the project is to allow researchers, conservators, and the public to engage with the objects both visually and through queries. You will be part of the EXCALIBUR consortium and work together with the consortium partners to develop computational tools for enabling digital twins in cultural heritage science, mainly aimed at archeological finds.

The computational group at CWI has an in-house imaging lab, enabling the methods to be tested on-site. The developed tools will be validated on selected case studies and incorporated in the European Cultural Heritage Cloud.

Requirements

We are looking for a researcher with a PhD in mathematics/computer science and/or cultural heritage (or related). The ideal candidate has good collaborative and networking skills and affinity with 3D image reconstruction and visualization, AI for imaging, computed tomography and/or photogrammetry.

Terms and conditions

We offer a postdoc in a multi-disciplinary, international, environment at the computational imaging group at CWI, Amsterdam. You will have the opportunity to shape your own research directions within the framework of the project and benefit of the international network offered by the project.

The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres ("CAO-onderzoeksinstellingen"). The gross monthly salary for an employee on a full time basis, depending on relevant work experience, ranges from € 4,247 to € 5,590. The position is available for a maximum of three years. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to the total of two and a half years.

Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.33%. CWI offers attractive working conditions, including flexible scheduling.
