This role is focused on developing Chemical Resistant Coatings in the field of Protective and Marine Coatings to expand the PPG portfolio. You will grow into a role being responsible for global product development and support the commercialization of the product developments. In this position you work closely with various (senior) team members, and various other functions such as Product Management, Technical Support, and colleagues based worldwide.
As a Science & Technology Product Development professional you are based in Amsterdam and report directly to the Team Leader of the Global Chemical Resistant Coatings team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory-based coating research activities and formulation- and product-development of Chemical Resistant Coatings, in cooperation with senior team members.
Deliver the assigned R&D deliverables for the Product Development projects and present the work to the team and stakeholders.
Operate as part of a wider multidisciplinary R&D team, and grow strong cross‑functional partnerships with Analytical, Product Management, Technical Support, and Operations.
Ensure milestones and key deliverables are met to drive project execution.
Drive innovation in Chemical Resistant Coatings.
Be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, leveraging best in class practices throughout all R&D activities.
Promote and foster a broad safety culture within global laboratories.
Ensure Intellectual Property (IP) progression is met from ideation through application to ensure PPG’s competitive advantage.
Qualifications
BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related fields.
3+ years experience in research, formulation, or product development.
3+ years industry experience in Protective Coatings, such as Chemical Resistant Coatings, Primer, etc.
Be hands‑on with a genuine interest to grow understanding of the technical challenges and be driven to overcome these challenges.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to gain agreement on proposals and technical strategies.
Experience with Design of Experiments, Digital Tools such as AI‑applications is a pro.
Ambition to grow into a role of Senior Product Developer, with extended research responsibilities.
