The R&D Laboratory
The R&D laboratory is part of the Apollo Global R&D centre within the Apollo Tyres Ltd. group. The laboratory is responsible for testing raw materials, compounds, components, and tyres for the Apollo organisation in Europe. The department consists of 17 employees and is divided into 3 groups: a preparation, physical, and chemical laboratory. The R&D laboratory is constantly looking for new, inventive methods to ensure that our tyres fulfill the requirements of customers.
The position
The Test Method Developer Physical laboratory is responsible for the development of new physical test methods (i.e., with a focus on DMA, Friction testers ) for raw materials, compounds and reinforcement materials, independently and in consultation with internal customers.
The work will mainly consist of the following general activities and responsibilities:
You will be responsible for new test method developments.
You will lead the purchase and installation of new equipment and monitor the developments in the industry.
You are a sparring partner to material specialists, physicists, and tyre engineers.
You participate in or lead cross-functional projects, which can be international.
Additional secondary tasks and activities related to the position:
You will contribute to regular activities and standardization in the physical laboratory.
You will support the analysis that are performed/developed on test equipment (e.g., RPA, Mooney, DMA, Friction testers and Tensile Tester).
You will report the outcomes in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Your profile BSc+ Physics or similar.
Hands-on experience in laboratory testing.
Analytical skills and knowledge of statistics.
Experienced in signal processing/data analysis, e.g. Matlab/Python.
Affinity with polymers/elastomers and friction.
Knowledge of modern (physical) test methods and equipment.
Reporting and presentation skills.
Initiative.
Pragmatic.
Hands-on.
Team player with good interpersonal skills.
Analytical skills.
