We are seeking a senior Deep Learning Researcher to join our Amsterdam‑based Model Efficiency research team. The team’s mission is to research and develop methods that push the frontier of on‑device efficiency, focusing on model quantization, compression, efficient data types, and conditional compute. The goal is to make modern foundation models more efficient and deployable on edge devices while maintaining performance.

• Conduct research and rapidly iterate on innovative deep learning‑based models and algorithms to improve inference efficiency.
• Design, experiment, and implement novel solutions that advance the state‑of‑the‑art for inference efficiency, collaborating closely with researchers and engineers.
• Create scientific and business impact by translating research into products deployed on millions of devices such as mobile phones, AR/VR headsets, and autonomous vehicles.
• Stay current with the latest AI and ML advancements, publish findings in top‑tier conferences and journals, and engage with the academic community.

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in machine learning and deep learning, including hands‑on model development, optimization, and full research cycle management.
• Programming experience in Python and familiarity with major deep learning toolkits such as PyTorch or Jax; ability to write clean, maintainable code and follow best practices.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

• Extensive experience in deep learning research with impactful publications at conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, etc.
• Experience with efficiency‑related topics such as quantization, compression, or hardware accelerators for neural networks.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and communicate complex outcomes to a wide audience.
• Industrial research experience or technology leadership experience.

The role is based in our Amsterdam office; remote‑based candidates are not being considered.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field with 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field with 1+ year of relevant work experience.
• PhD in a relevant field.

• Apply ML knowledge to extend training or runtime frameworks with new features and optimizations.
• Help architect and develop machine‑learning hardware co‑designed with software for inference or training solutions.
• Develop optimized software (e.g., machine‑learning kernels, compiler tools, model‑efficiency tools) to enable AI models on hardware.
• Assist in applying ML techniques to products or AI solutions that enable customers to do the same.
• Develop, adapt, or prototype complex algorithms and models aligned with product proposals or roadmaps.
• Conduct experiments to train and evaluate ML models and/or software independently.

• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Decision‑making may affect work beyond the immediate group.
• Requires strong verbal and written communication skills; basic negotiation and influence may be necessary.
• Has moderate influence over key organizational decisions and may be consulted by senior leadership.
• Tasks require multiple steps and planning, problem solving, and prioritization to complete effectively.
