Arc’teryx – EMEA Merchandising Manager
As the EMEA Merchandising Manager you shape and deliver the regional merchandising strategy and go‑to‑market execution across Retail, Ecommerce and Wholesale in EMEA.
You partner with Global teams in Vancouver and local EMEA commercial teams to translate consumer needs and market insights into seasonal assortments and execution plans.
You collaborate with Merchandise Planning and Allocations (MP&A), Visual Merchandising and Commercial teams to align category product strategies with global merchandising direction and focus on local consumer needs and brand opportunities.
Role based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Candidates must have the right to work in the country and within EMEA.
Core Activities- Develop short‑term merchandising strategies (1–2 year plans) across assigned categories within the regional strategy framework.
- Execute category strategy, translating strategic direction into actionable seasonal assortments.
- Deliver on 5‑year brand vision through category‑level execution, achieving sales, margin and inventory targets with Commercial and MP&A.
- Partner with Regional Commercial leadership on category performance reviews and recommendations.
- Plan strategic seasonal selling plans, managing sell‑through vs. sell‑in dynamics.
- Collaborate with global GPLM to incorporate regional category needs into global line planning.
- Provide assortment frameworks supporting retail, wholesale and digital channels.
- Research and analyze the regional marketplace, identify consumer and market insights.
- Deliver product and assortment presentations for key milestones, aligning stakeholders on category strategies.
- Work with Visual Merchandising, Design, Development, Marketing and Colour teams to bring seasonal strategies to life.
- Conduct quarterly market visits for consumer, competitive and retail insights.
- Uphold Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and sourcing principles.
- Explore new product categories and extensions within the Women’s portfolio.
- Maximize efficiency and profitability of category assortments across Ecommerce, Wholesale and retail.
- Shape retail merchandising strategy and lead regional go‑to‑market execution, building product calendars and retail readiness.
- 5+ years in Outdoor, Sports or Premium Retail with hands‑on merchandising, buying and commercial decision‑making across DTC and/or Wholesale (3 years in Footwear).
- Strong understanding of European retail markets and ability to turn consumer and trend insights into commercial strategies.
- Fluent in retail math – sell‑through, margin, COGs, OTB, inventory and data‑driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, confident presentation, highly organized across multiple priorities.
- Lead through influence and collaboration, especially with Senior Merchants, MP&A and VM.
- Strategic thinker with pragmatic execution and contribution to multi‑year strategies.
- Knowledge of outdoor and active apparel market and activities served by products.
- Willing to travel for trade shows, dealer meetings and market visits (twice per month) and to Global HQ Vancouver on a fixed cadence (4 round trips per year).
- Proactive risk identification, root cause diagnosis and actionable solutions.
- Adaptable and resilient in ambiguous or evolving environments.
- Audit when escalating or aligning, balance autonomy with collaboration.
- Continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Integrity and passion for work and outdoor living.
