Over de functie
The organisation
You will join an established international fashion organisation with several menswear brands. Each brand has its own identity, audience and position in the market.
The working environment is ambitious, informal and practical. Colleagues challenge each other, share ideas and take responsibility for their work. There are short communication lines and little unnecessary hierarchy.
Within the Buying and Product teams, colleagues work closely together on supplier choices, cost prices, quality and planning. Decisions are made quickly, and there is plenty of room to suggest improvements.
The role
As Buyer Knitwear, you are responsible for the buying process of assigned knitwear styles. This includes sweaters, cardigans, knitted polos, pullovers and other commercially relevant knitwear products.
You are involved from the first sourcing decision through to production and final delivery. You select the right suppliers, negotiate cost prices and monitor every step of the critical path. Throughout the process, you keep quality, lead times, supplier performance and commercial targets closely aligned.
You work with international suppliers and collaborate with colleagues from Product Development, Merchandising, Sales, Quality, Corporate Responsibility and Logistics. Together, you make sure each product is commercially viable, technically correct and delivered on time.
Your responsibilities include:
manage assigned knitwear styles from sourcing and supplier allocation through production and delivery;
assess suppliers based on capability, cost, quality, capacity, lead time, risk and commercial suitability;
lead costing and price negotiations, protect margins and identify savings without compromising quality, fit or delivery;
monitor the critical path, including sampling, approvals, production milestones and final delivery;
review yarns, stitches, gauges, trims, lab dips, hand feel, fit and construction for quality and commercial relevance;
track supplier performance and resolve risks involving delays, capacity, compliance, quality, costs, fabrics or production;
maintain accurate product, order, cost and supplier data while contributing to better quality, fit consistency, sustainability and return performance.
Who are you?
You are commercially minded and enjoy working close to the product. You understand that successful knitwear depends on more than appearance alone. Yarn, construction, hand feel, fit, price and delivery all need to come together.
You communicate clearly with suppliers and colleagues. You are comfortable negotiating and are not afraid to challenge prices, planning or product decisions. At the same time, you remain practical and solution-oriented when priorities change.
You also bring:
several years of experience in buying, sourcing or product development;
experience within fashion, preferably menswear or knitwear;
knowledge of yarns, stitches, gauges, fit and knitwear construction;
experience with international suppliers and sample follow-up;
knowledge of costing, price negotiations and margin management;
strong planning and critical path management skills;
the ability to manage several styles, suppliers and deadlines;
good communication skills in English;
Experience with fully fashioned knitwear or commercially driven menswear collections is an advantage
Note that a wholesale background is a must .
What can you expect?
You will join a visible and commercially important product category. Your decisions influence the collection, product quality, supplier performance and profitability.
The organisation offers a professional but informal working environment with room for ownership and development. The salary depends on your experience and expertise.
You will also receive:
an end-of-year bonus equal to one gross monthly salary;
a healthy and varied lunch at the office;
access to an on-site gym and sports classes;
regular company events and social activities;
an attractive employee discount on the collections.
