Senior; Front-end Developer

Overview

At Build in Amsterdam, we’re looking for a Senior Developer who is as passionate about clean code as we are about clean design. The craft hasn’t changed, but the way we practice it has. We expect our seniors to work fluently with AI tools like Claude Code as part of their daily workflow, using them to ship faster without compromising on quality, architecture, or attention to detail.

You should have expert knowledge of modern web technologies, strong affinity for robust platform architecture, a deep appreciation for responsive design, and a keen eye for detail. We’re looking for someone creatively driven and eager to join our team, setting the benchmark by building unique digital flagship stores for our international clients.

• Build and maintain high‑quality code for digital flagship stores using our tech stack.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools effectively: writing clear specs, reviewing generated code critically, and knowing when to lean on the model and when to write it yourself.
• Optimize for performance and scalability, ensuring an unforgettable user experience.
• Work closely with our design and development teams to translate designs into fully functional digital experiences.
• Lead projects from inception to deployment, setting new industry benchmarks along the way.
• Mentor junior developers on both fundamentals and modern AI‑augmented workflows, promoting a culture of excellence.
• Help shape how our team adopts new tooling, including agentic coding, MCP integrations, and prompt‑driven workflows.

• Professional
  
  Experience:
  
  Minimum of 5 years in web development.
• Technical Expertise:
  Expert in web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Type Script, Node.js, React, and Next.js.
• AI‑Augmented Development:
  Hands‑on experience with tools like Claude Code, or comparable. You can explain where they accelerate your work and where they fall short.
• Headless CMS
  
  Experience:
  
  Hands‑on experience with platforms like Contentful, Storyblok, or Sanity.
• E‑commerce Solutions:
  Familiarity with (headless) e‑commerce platforms such as Shopify or Centra.
• Agile Workflow:
  Skilled in version control and agile development practices.
• Responsive Design:
  Strong understanding of responsive design principles.
• Code Review Mindset:
  Comfortable critically evaluating AI‑generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Communication
  
  Skills:
  
  Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including the ability to write clear briefs and specs (for humans and models).
• Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating your expertise and past projects.
