Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you a software engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems using data? Do you like investigating how connected systems behave in the field and turning insights into practical improvements? Become an IoT Software Engineer (Reliability & Data) at Greener.

A Smarter Energy Future

At Greener, we're accelerating the energy transition with smart battery systems and an advanced Energy Management System (EMS) that optimizes how energy is generated, stored, and consumed. The EMS team develops and maintains the software that enables our fleet to operate reliably and efficiently in the field.

As our battery fleet continues to grow, so does the importance of understanding how our systems behave in real-world conditions. That's where you come in.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, IoT, and data-driven problem solving
. Your primary focus is not building dashboards or maintaining data pipelines, nor developing product features in isolation. Instead, you use data to identify reliability risks, understand operational issues, investigate patterns, and drive improvements across our EMS platform.

One day you might analyse telemetry from hundreds of battery systems to identify the root cause of recurring incidents. Another day you could be implementing a software fix in the EMS codebase, improving communication with connected devices, or reviewing code written by colleagues. You will work closely with the Service team and external partners to help Greener move from reacting to incidents towards proactively improving reliability across our fleet.

You’ll be successful in this role if you enjoy the combination of backend development, IoT systems, and using data to make software and assets perform better in the real world. We value ownership, accountability, and the courage to challenge the status quo. That's how we live our core value We get it done
.

Your mission is to improve the reliability of Greener's energy systems by combining software engineering, data analysis, and deep understanding of how our connected assets behave in the real world.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering, operations, and data. You'll investigate operational issues and reliability challenges across our battery fleet using EMS and fleet data, identifying patterns, anomalies, and early warning signs before they impact customers. Based on your findings, you'll design and implement improvements within our EMS platform and develop and maintain Python code as part of the EMS codebase.

You'll be collaborating closely with Product, Service and Engineering teams to solve complex operational challenges, contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices, and improve our understanding of system behaviour through telemetry, monitoring, and analysis tools. You'll also work with external technology partners when investigating hardware and software reliability issues and help drive the long-term development of data-driven product intelligence capabilities across Greener.
