Island Health is offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for our Day Shift at the hospital in Anacortes, WA.

Salary & Incentives

Salary range: $36.90 - $69.95 per hour.

  • $5,000 sign‑on bonus
  • Night differential: $4.75
  • Evening differential: $3.25
  • Weekend differential: $4.00
  • BSN (or higher) premium: $1.00 per hour
  • Certification premium: $1.00 per hour

Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients from infancy to adulthood.
  • Demonstrate understanding of triage principles and take appropriate actions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, determining correct dosage calculations in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Utilize 5‑step nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) to provide patient care.
  • Participate in communication and problem solving with patient/significant other, health team members, and other departments.
  • Assess knowledge level of patient/significant other and determine patient’s priority of stated needs.
  • Teach patients about their health needs including treatments, self‑care, precautions, and access to future assistance by the health care team.
  • Document appropriate components of the nursing process according to established standards.
  • Complete 8 hours of stroke or related education per year.
Job Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State RN license.
Nurses With Emergency Department Experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification completed within 60 days of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Care Curriculum (TNCC) proof of completion at least once in career.
Nurses Without Emergency Department Experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) completion within 60 days of hire.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) completion within 90 days of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Care Curriculum (TNCC) completion within 6 months of hire.
