Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
Position Summary
HF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA seeks a Metal Trades craftsperson to troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain refinery fixed equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform proactive and reactive maintenance activities to increase the reliability of fixed mechanical equipment and systems in all areas of the refinery.
- Understand work priorities in relation to plant reliability on a daily/weekly basis.
- Communicate with the Team Leader and planner on the status of assigned work and any issues encountered.
- Take ownership of the fixed equipment systems in assigned areas.
- Work with screwed and flanged piping systems, including removal, installation, repair, fabrication, cleaning, and threading.
- Work with non‑metallic piping systems.
- Install and remove blinds for equipment maintenance activities.
- Remove/install various types of process equipment such as valves, pumps, gauge/sight glasses, relief valves, burner assemblies, pressure regulators, and other instrument support systems.
- Apply basic rigging skills and hand signals.
- Work with heat exchangers, including removal, cleaning, disassembly, testing, repair, hydro testing, and reassembly/installation.
- Install and repair piping and tubing auxiliaries on turbines, compressors, pumps, and fans.
- Demonstrate proficiency in PMI requirements and the Welded Piping QC manual.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and PSR standards.
- Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities on fixed equipment.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, Hyster trucks, etc.
- Perform scheduled and reactive corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Use a CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to document job details.
5 years of Maintenance Metal Trades Craft experience.
Preferred QualificationsJourneyman Metal Trades Craft in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
EducationHigh school diploma or GED required.
Required SkillsWillingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, at heights, on high‑elevation grating, stairs, confined spaces, and in inclement weather. Must speak, read, and write English. Must reside within 60 miles of the site or be willing to relocate. Must use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from ground to waist level. Comfortable using computers. Support HF Sinclair’s drug‑free work environment policy.
WorkConditions
Field based. Petroleum refinery with chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, exposure to electrical shock, confined spaces, and outdoor environment. Subject to all temperatures.
