Senior Tax Manager

A 45-person independent CPA firm in the Calabasas area is hiring a Senior Tax Manager to lead high-level tax review and own key client relationships. The firm serves real estate, high net worth, entertainment and closely held flow-through clients. This seat is remote with planned office visits 2 to 3 times a year (for example, a week in April, a week in October and the holiday party), and it is one of two senior seats tied to the firm’s partner succession plan.

The firm aims to have this seat filled by mid-December.

• Review complex individual, partnership and S corporation returns for real estate, high net worth and entertainment clients.
• Serve as the lead tax contact for key clients, including planning, projections and year-round advisory work.
• Resolve California FTB and IRS notices, correspondence and exams.
• Lead, train and review the work of tax seniors and staff, including offshore team members.
• Manage workflow, deadlines and engagement budgets through busy season and extension season.
• Work with firm leadership on process improvements and the rollout of new tax software.

• 8+ years of public accounting tax experience, including at least 2 years at the Manager or Senior Manager level.
• Active CPA license.
• Strong technical depth in real estate partnerships, S corporations and high net worth individuals. Entertainment industry experience is a plus.
• California FTB experience strongly preferred.
• Regional or mid-size CPA firm background preferred.
• Confident client presence and a track record of developing staff.
