Overview
Acts as a resource for the Vice President of IT Operations to facilitate the design and implementation of networks, security and telecommunications systems. Responsible for designing, modifying, configuring, testing and implementing network, security and telecommunications applications and operating systems. Possesses expertise in a variety of network and telephony protocols and provides technical guidance and support for networking and telecom staff. Conducts system analysis, industry research and proposes design upgrades to keep systems current with changing technologies.
The position requires skills for building relationships with internal clients, including peer IT groups and staff, and analytical and leadership capabilities for developing systems that support employee and member needs for communications and security.
- Design and develop networking, security and communication systems, making determinations regarding system design and performance.
- Respond promptly and professionally to production problems for supported systems and applications.
- Conduct system analysis and configuration, with limited support from professional consultants, to keep systems current with changing technologies.
- Analyze, design, coordinate and supervise deployment of network and telecommunications systems to solve information processing problems.
- Translate system requirements into task specifications for IT staff.
- Analyze current network, security and telecommunications applications and systems, including performance diagnosis and troubleshooting, and design solutions to issues.
- Configure, edit, and troubleshoot new systems and configurations for assigned projects, including secure data throughput.
- Document configuration consistently throughout deployment and support, including design, installation or support instructions and changes in configurations.
- Utilize tools and equipment involved in the performance of essential functions of networking, security and telecommunications systems, including testing and measuring instruments.
- Maintain positive internal and external client interactions.
- Research and recommend network management and support tools to management.
- Provide assistance to testers and support personnel to determine system problems as needed.
- Review changes in the networking and telecommunications environment that affect communications performance.
- Provide recommendations to senior management on issues of network topology, security settings or telecommunications performance.
- Attend regular staff meetings; prepare briefs and reports; verbally communicate technical information; present to groups; develop and document procedures; interact with managers and senior management of credit union clients regularly.
- Interact with networking and server support staff.
- Bachelor's Degree and 7-10 years of experience in network, security, telecom or IT systems development (equivalent experience may offset educational requirement).
- Strong working knowledge of moderately complex systems, including EIGRP, F5, Palo Alto, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, VPN, IDS, IPS, TACACS, RSA.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to work quickly and completely.
- Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing concepts, including emerging software-defined networks and CCaaS systems.
- Strong understanding of routing, firewalls and phone system configurations and programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in teaching or instructing coworkers; ability to provide advice, training and technical support for various projects.
- Experience working with management to evaluate current systems and decide on future networking and telecommunications processes.
- Quick learning of new technologies and ability to integrate them with existing systems.
- Expert knowledge of networking, security protocols, telecommunications systems and deployments.
- Ability to work productively in a team and write technical documents, configuration drawings, network management tools and related documentation.
- Ability to diagnose whether problems are caused by hardware, OS software, applications, or network failures and a solid understanding of data security and encryption.
Expert Level
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $55.00 - $65.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits may include:
