Senior Network Engineer – Palo Alto
Location: Anaheim, CA (fully onsite)
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay Range: $70.00 – $101.70/hr
Experience Level: Expert Level
Responsibilities- Acts as a resource for the Vice President of IT Operations to facilitate the design and implementation of networks, security and telecommunications systems.
- Design, modify, configure, test and implement network, security and telecommunications applications and operating systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support for networking and telecom staff.
- Conduct system analysis, industry research and propose design upgrades to keep systems current with changing technologies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to production problems for supported systems and applications.
- Analyze, design, coordinate and supervise the deployment of network and telecommunications systems.
- Analyze system specifications and translate requirements to task specifications for IT staff.
- Perform performance diagnosis and troubleshooting of network, security and telecommunications applications and systems.
- Configure, edit and troubleshoot new systems and configurations, ensuring secure data throughput.
- Document configurations and design, including special installation or support instructions and changes made.
- Utilize tools and equipment for testing and measuring performance of networking, security and telecommunications systems.
- Maintain positive internal and external client interactions and recommend network management tools.
- Assist testers and support personnel to determine system problems.
- Review changes in networking and telecommunications environment affecting communications performance.
- Provide recommendations to senior management concerning network topology, security settings or telecommunications performance.
- Attend regular staff meetings, prepare correspondence and reports, present technical information to groups outside immediate work area, develop and document procedures, research questions and needed information, and interact with managers and management from different credit union clients regularly.
- Interact with networking and server support staff.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 7–10 years of experience in network, security, telecom or IT systems development.
- Equivalent experience may offset educational requirement.
- Good working knowledge of moderately complex systems, including EIGRP, F5, Palo Alto, BGP, OSPF, SD‑WAN, VPN, IDS, IPS, TACACS, RSA.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
- Solid understanding of networking/distributed computing concepts and emerging software‑defined networks and CCaaS systems.
- Strong knowledge of routing, firewalls and phone system configurations and programming.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to multi‑task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.
- Participate in long‑range planning for new projects and environments.
- Ability to teach or instruct co‑workers; provide advice, training and technical support for projects.
- Work closely with management to evaluate current systems and make decisions on future networking and telecommunication processes.
- Adapt quickly to emerging technologies and resolve integration problems.
- Expert knowledge of networking, security protocols, telecommunications systems and deployments.
- Team‑player with ability to write technical documents, configuration drawings and utilize network management tools.
- Identify causes of hardware, OS, application or network failures.
- Knowledge of data security and encryption.
- Network engineering, firewall, router, switch, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, BGP, EIGRP, Palo Alto, OSPF, CCNP, Velocloud, load balancing, Cisco ISE, F5, monitoring, Solar Winds, SD‑WAN, SD‑WAN.
- Experience with monitoring tools and software‑defined networking concepts.
