Legal Counsel, Technology, Data & Privacy Compliance

Full‑Time | Onsite | Anaheim, CA

Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Bonus‑eligible

A leading sports and entertainment organization is seeking a Legal Counsel to support technology, data, and privacy initiatives across multiple business units. This role partners closely with executive legal leadership and cross‑functional teams to advise on technology governance, risk management, and compliance matters.

The Legal Counsel will serve as the primary attorney for Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC), supporting a fast‑paced, high‑visibility environment that blends legal precision with practical business guidance.

Key Responsibilities Technology, Data & Privacy Compliance
  • Provide legal guidance to business teams on technology, data protection, and privacy compliance matters
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret applicable U.S. laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Support governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) initiatives across the organization
Risk Management & Regulatory Support
  • Partner with finance, operations, and technology teams to oversee PCI compliance programs, including training, monitoring, and risk mitigation efforts
  • Identify legal risks and collaborate with stakeholders to implement compliant, business‑aligned solutions
Contracts & Commercial Support
  • Draft, review, and negotiate internal and third‑party technology agreements
  • Balance legal risk with operational and commercial objectives
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with executive leadership and business teams to support strategic initiatives
  • Translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for non‑legal stakeholders
  • Serve as a trusted advisor across departments on technology and compliance matters
Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses on emerging technology and privacy issues
  • Support special projects and other legal initiatives as assigned
Qualifications Required
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school
  • Certifications such as PCIP, CIPP/US, or similar credentials
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar and eligibility for California in‑house registration
  • 4–7 years of legal practice experience
  • Minimum of 18 months of in‑house legal experience
  • Experience with technology contracts motor compliance matters
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
Preferred
  • Prior experience in governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC)
  • Familiarity with data privacy and information security frameworks
