Base Salary Range: 210,000 – 260,000 annually;

A leading entertainment and venue operations organization is seeking a Senior Director of Legal Affairs & Risk Management to provide strategic legal guidance and enterprise-wide risk oversight. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role is responsible for managing litigation, insurance programs, claims, and risk mitigation strategies while leading a high‑performing risk management team. This position partners closely with executive leadership, business teams, and ownership loin‑level legal and risk counterparts to proactively identify, assess, and manage legal, financial, safety, and reputational risk across a dynamic operating environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesLitigation & Claims Management
- Oversee commercial and general liability litigation, including strategy development, depositions, hearings, and status conferences
- Manage outside counsel and monitor case progress, budgets, and outcomes
- Review and approve litigation filings, motions, and discovery materials
- Lead internal and external discovery processes, including document review and production
Insurance & Risk Strategy
- Manage and maintain the organization’s comprehensive insurance program, including procurement, placement, and renewals
- Partner with ownership‑level risk leadership on enterprise insurance strategy
- Analyze loss trends and risk data to provide recommendations to senior leadership
- Support claims handling, workers’ compensation, and risk transfer initiatives
Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Advise internal stakeholders on liability, regulatory, insurance, and risk‑related matters
- Draft and review key contract provisions, balancing legal exposure with business objectives
- Respond to subpoenas, legal inquiries, and regulatory matters in a timely manner
- Oversee internal investigations while preserving legal privilege and advising on outcomes
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor the risk management team, supporting professional development and performance
- Collaborate with executive and business teams to identify and implement risk reduction strategies
- Partner with ownership‑level legal teams to align litigation, compliance, and exposure containment approaches
- Provide regular reporting on litigation exposure, compliance initiatives, and risk developments
Training & Policy Development
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to reduce legal and operational risk
- Design and deliver training programs on legal compliance and risk best practices
- Serve as a trusted advisor, translating complex legal concepts for non‑legal audiences
Required
- Juris Doctor or equivalent professional degree
- 6+ years of legal practice experience
- Minimum 2 years of in‑house legal or risk management experience
- Strong background in litigation management and insurance procurement
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to a risk management function
