Prime Healthcare is seeking an experienced Regional Chief Nursing Officer (Regional CNO) to provide hands-on executive nursing leadership across a 16-hospital acute care region spanning California and Nevada.

Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Nursing, the Regional CNO provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing services across a designated multi-hospital region. This executive nursing leadership role partners closely with Chief Executive Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, physicians, and executive leadership to advance clinical excellence, nursing operations, patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and organizational performance.

The Regional CNO also plays a key leadership role in executing enterprise-wide nursing initiatives and supporting hospital nursing leaders in translating organizational priorities into consistent clinical and operational results across the region.

Responsibilities

Serving as the primary liaison between Corporate Nursing and regional hospitals, the Regional CNO works alongside nursing leadership and interdisciplinary service lines—including Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Case Management, Quality, and other clinical departments to implement corporate strategies, standardize clinical practice, and improve quality, patient outcomes, and operational performance. Through the effective use of operational, financial, staffing, and quality metrics, this leader removes barriers, develops practical solutions, and drives consistent execution across the region.

  • Provide hands-on executive leadership for nursing operations across multiple acute care hospitals within the assigned region.
  • Partner with the Corporate Vice President of Nursing to execute enterprise-wide clinical, operational, and quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Chief Executive Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, physicians, and interdisciplinary leaders to improve clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
  • Lead the implementation of standardized nursing practices, evidence-based care, corporate policies, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize operational, financial, staffing, and quality metrics to drive accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead change management initiatives by removing operational barriers, developing practical solutions, and ensuring successful implementation of corporate initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop nursing leaders while fostering collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.
  • Conduct regular regional site visits, executive rounding, and operational reviews to support local leadership and ensure alignment with corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, and all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Corporate Vice President of Nursing and executive leadership, providing strategic guidance on nursing operations, workforce strategy, and clinical performance.
