Primary Purpose

Under general direction, the Senior Research & Planning Analyst leads, oversees, and participates in the more complex work of staff responsible for planning, conducting, and presenting research and analysis of institutional data related to program development, service evaluation, enrollment patterns, and accreditation projects. The analyst designs and executes complex research studies, provides technical assistance to campus and district staff in program evaluation, assessment, and analysis, and coordinates the work of other staff to accomplish office objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Leads, plans, trains, and reviews the work of staff responsible for implementing research related to program and administrative reviews, outcomes, assessment, program evaluation, and survey activities associated with student success and institutional effectiveness.
  • Trains employees in current software practices, provision of advanced technical information, research design, program evaluation, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Coordinates documentation of research protocols and processes related to program and administrative reviews and survey research activities; prepares end‑user and technical documentation and instructions related to information systems, data warehouse, and research agendas.
  • Consults with campus and district administrators regarding research needs, current studies, results of research, and related matters.
  • Designs and develops data collection procedures and acquisition of data and analysis for enrollment management and planning.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements effective survey instruments and intake forms; evaluates and recommends appropriate sampling methods and techniques; participates in data collection and processing; reviews and coordinates staff responsible for analyzing data and presenting results in comprehensive reports; assists campus and district staff in accessing student data and with data analysis.
  • Writes and provides technical and editorial assistance in the writing and publishing of special reports and publications; completes surveys and reports required by external public and private agencies; provides research support to grant applications and existing grants as required.
  • Coordinates development and design of office website; publishes research information on site.
  • Communicates complex research methodology and results in written and oral format in formal and informal presentations.
  • Learns and applies emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties efficiently, organized, and timely.
  • Shows sensitivity to and understanding of disabilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Participates in diversity, equity and inclusion trainings and events.
