Job Overview

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range
To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.
Responsibilities- Review completed employee hire packets and follow up with Employment Specialists on missing documents.
- Track certifications and licenses, follow up with departments and employees on upcoming expiration.
- Enter department accounting string information for background check vendor invoices.
- Maintain federal compliance with citizenship and employment laws (I-9s).
- Daily management of Employment/Records email inboxes, receive and sort mail.
- Provide in-person customer service and assistance to customers at the records window.
- Answer and dispatch incoming calls during regular business hours.
- Provide Directors with employee data regarding review dates, merit dates, probations, temporary and seasonal employees.
- Audit and maintain incentive pays for accuracy and documentation.
- Maintain the integrity of the ERP system with current and retroactive detailed entries.
- Provide unions with active employee reports biweekly.
This position primarily focuses on assisting the Employment team with entering onboarding packets and information, assisting and/or presenting weekly orientation, submitting orientation rosters and putting together welcome packages, answering and routing phone calls, managing and dispatching emails in the shared inbox, assisting customers with questions, submitting/collecting documents from external departments, collecting badge forms, and other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and four (4) years of human resources experience.
OR
Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline and two (2) years of human resources experience.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline and human resources experience.
Required CertificationsA satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
