WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Department of Public Safety, Division of Statewide Services, is seeking an Office Assistant II to join the Permits and Licensing Unit. This entry‑level, support‑based role provides an excellent opportunity to build valuable skills in applying criminal justice information policies, procedures, and precedents—particularly in administrative and customer service settings. Working under the guidance of the Records and Licensing Supervisor to:

  • Permit and Eligibility Processing:
    Receive, review, and process applications for various permit programs (ACHP, SGL, CPS); verify applicant eligibility through criminal history checks, manage fingerprint submissions, and issue permits.
  • Administrative Support and File Management:
    Respond to public and agency inquiries, manage correspondence and official records, reconcile payments, maintain filing systems, and support compliance efforts including audits and documentation tracking.
  • Cross‑Unit Support:
    Provide backup assistance to other Criminal Records Bureau units by performing data entry, record updates, document scanning, and other clerical support as needed.
