Position: Law Office Assistant 2 (02-1766)

What You Will Be Doing

Supports public guardians with case opening, letter drafting, court calendaring, bank runs, vital stats runs, discovery processing, and data entry. Requires strong admin and communication skills.

Qualifications
  • Adaptability: adjust planned work by gathering info and applying critical thinking.
  • Attention to Detail: thorough and conscientious.
  • Clerical: filing, typing, data entry, record maintenance, form completion.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    use computers, software, databases, automated systems.
Experience

One year as a Law Office Assistant 1 in State of Alaska OR completion of formal Law Office Assistant training plan OR one year in law office or administrative work with proficiency in electronic systems and word processing for preparing legal documents.

Substitutions

Bachelor’s degree in legal field substitutes for required experience. Associate’s degree or vocational certification in legal support may substitute up to 6 months. Non‑legal post‑secondary may substitute up to 6 months. Vocational‑technical certification in business support up to 3 months.

Special Notes

Notary Public required upon hire. Criminal background check required. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
