Camp Fireweed is NOT an overnight camp and does NOT provide room and board. Gear up for outdoor adventures at our day camp located in Anchorage on the campus of Alaska Pacific University. We take full advantage of this natural setting, making every day another opportunity for campers to explore the forest, practice target sports, or launch a canoe from the waterfront.

In addition to a huge catalog of activities and games, we structure each session to create a classic, outdoor summer camp experience!

A Camp Fireweed Creative Arts Core Counselor adheres to Camp Fire Alaska’s (CFAK) promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are through positive and responsible youth/adult interactions within the day camp environment. The Creative Arts Core Counselor will be responsible for developing and teaching Creative Arts (drama, singing, music, acting, etc.)

to campers. This position will also serve as back‑up providing coverage for Cabin Counselor duties as needed. You’ll have an opportunity to lead and participate in all camp activities along with planning and implementing age‑appropriate activities consistent with campers’ needs/abilities that promote, encourage, and demonstrate caring, striving, and thriving. Pay: $19.37/hour

• Bonus for completing the full season

Work Dates:
April 20 – August 14, 2026 (beginning with start‑up training)

Work Schedule:

8 hours, Monday – Friday, during camp program hours of 7 am — 6 pm

• Prior experience working with youth preferred.
• Prior experience in planning and leading Creative Arts activities.
• Eighteen (18) years of age required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting entities.
• Current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider (preferred) or availability to attend a certification course at the Camp Fire AK local office prior to listed position start date.
