Pay DetailsThe projected salary range for this position is $108,000 – $118,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Job DescriptionThe Producing Director, Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) leads the TYA team in the Education Division, overseeing nearly all aspects of commissioning, development, and overall producing of the TYA season of in‑house and touring productions.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement an artistic season of TYA for multiple age groups, line‑produce all productions, and manage artist logistics throughout the production process.
- Produce all aspects of the annual Kennedy Center TYA on‑tour production, including casting and supervising the touring company.
- Provide artistic leadership for the TYA program, collaborate with education partners, and participate in anti‑racism work across Theater Education.
- Serve as TYA’s primary casting contact, managing auditions, casting, and hiring for all touring and produced shows.
- Supervise the Production and Operations Manager, TYA in budget creation and management, and coordinate all contractual and payroll matters.
- Manage a cross‑functional team of up to three direct reports, mentor interns, and represent the Kennedy Center at national and international conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in performing arts, arts management, theater for young audiences, or equivalent experience.
- 6 – 8 years of producing and managerial experience, preferably in a producing theater that commissions and develops new work.
- Strong managerial, administrative, and artistic skills, including dramaturgical awareness of national and international trends in young audiences.
- Excellent problem‑solving, multi‑tasking, and communication abilities, with a team‑player work ethic.
- Budget oversight experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must live and work in the DC area, be willing to relocate to the DMV area if not local, and work onsite full‑time.
