Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Supervisor of Dental Assistants oversees and develops Dental Assistant employees within the Dental department. This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality, culturally appropriate dental care, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, CODA, OSHA, and other relevant standards. The supervisor actively participates in the Integrated Dental Care Team, maintaining professionalism and fostering culturally sensitive interactions.
Responsibilities include managing daily performance, guiding dental assistants towards established goals, and providing dental services within the program. The position has two levels, with progression based on demonstrated ability to handle more responsibilities.
Qualifications:
SCF serves primarily Alaska Native populations, including those affiliated with CIRI and other Native and American Indian communities within the service area. Candidates should understand the cultural needs of this population to support SCF’s vision of holistic wellness and its mission of community-driven health services:
- High School diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of progressive experience as a Dental Assistant or demonstrated proficiency as a Dental Assistant II at SCF
- Completion of SCF’s Dental Assistant Training Program or a CODA-approved program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (ACLS, NRP, ATLS, PALS, etc.) as relevant to the scope of practice
Additional Qualifications for Supervisor of Dental Assistants II:
- Two (2) years of experience at the Supervisor of Dental Assistants I level or demonstrated proficiency in that role at SCF
Native Preference:
SCF follows a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training under P.L. 93-638, as amended.

Employment requires compliance with health screening and immunizations, including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tdap, and COVID-19 vaccinations prior to starting.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Required licenses and certifications include BCU and ICPA approval.
