Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication
University of Alaska Anchorage – Department of Communication, Community and Technical College (CTC). We are seeking a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication to join our tripartite program (60% instruction, 20% research, 20% service).
ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will:
- Teach a broad range of Communication courses, including our General Education Requirement (GER) courses:
Fundamentals of Oral Communication, Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking; core major courses:
Communication Theories, Intercultural Communication or Communication and Gender, Communication Research Methods, Persuasion; and selected electives.
- Engage undergraduate students in collaborative research.
- Take a leadership role in the Department, including serving on department committees.
- Foster a collegial, diverse, and inclusive classroom and research environment.
- Contribute to the advancement of the new Communication BA program and its minor.
Candidate should:
- Hold a Doctorate in Communication or a closely related field.
- Have experience teaching college‑level Communication courses both in‑person and online.
- Demonstrate a record or strong potential for research and scholarly publication.
- Doctorate in Communication or related field.
- ABD considered with evidence of completion by the time of appointment.
- Record of research and publication or demonstrated potential for research and publication.
