Qualifications- A valid Alaska initial, professional, or master teaching certificate.

- Posted degree in the content area of this position,
- Posted minor in the content area of this position,
- Passing Praxis Subject Assessments scores (formerly Praxis II) in the content area,
- Endorsement in the content area of this position.
- Native oral and written foreign language speaking ability in the language of this position.
- Can describe their philosophy of education and demonstrate its relationship to their practice.
- Understands how students learn and develop, and applies that knowledge in their practice.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, work time and assessment.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects and the like.

The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make decisions under pressure.
The employee must manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles.
Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities, and abilities, including working with diverse groups in a variety of settings. The noise level is usually moderate; employee may be exposed to outdoor weather and to video displays.
