Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

Work Year: 182 days per year

We are currently offering a $5,000 signing bonus or up to $10,000 in relocation assistance to all new Special Education Teachers.

As a Special Education Teacher at ASD, you will plan and provide learning experiences for students with disabilities, including cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities, in a variety of educational settings. You will create a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction and establishes effective rapport with students.

• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Teaches students with respect for their individual and cultural characteristics.
• Facilitates, monitors, and assesses student learning.
• Creates and maintains a learning environment in which all students are actively engaged and contributing members.
• Works as a partner with parents, families, and the community.

• A valid teaching certificate with an endorsement in special education.
• A certified General Education Teacher may be hired into a Special Education Teacher position as part of our Alternate Certificate Program. You will have three years to earn your endorsement in special education, and ASD will assist with tuition reimbursement.

• Evidence of experience working with special education students.
• Experience working collaboratively to support the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) needs of special education students in a public school setting.
