    Job Summary
    Physical Education teachers create a flexible and supportive education program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. They provide instruction at an appropriate grade level, establishing rapport with students, parents, and staff. They motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a good educational foundation, reporting to and being evaluated by the site principal.

    This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate. The number of work days is based on the AEA negotiated pay scale. Details are available on the Labor Relations Department website. The grade level, content area, and work site may change based on enrollment and staffing needs. Positions from 0.50 to 1.0 FTE are associated with the Alaska Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), while those from 0.40 to 0.49 FTE are associated with the Alaska Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).

    Positions 0.39 FTE or less are not eligible for state retirement benefits.

    Physical / Mental Demands
    The role involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Visual abilities are required. The employee must occasionally lift less than 40 lbs, understand and follow instructions, handle conflict, and manage stress effectively.
