Job Summary
The school counselor collaborates with staff, parents, and the community to foster a caring climate through a comprehensive developmental counseling program. They provide education, prevention, early detection, and intervention to support student success. The counselor reports to and is evaluated by the site principal.

This position requires a valid Alaska type C certificate. The work days are based on the AEA negotiated pay scale. Details are available on the Labor Relations Department website. Positions with 0.50 to 1.0 FTE are eligible for the Alaska Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS); those with less than 0.39 FTE are not eligible for state retirement benefits.

Physical / Mental Demands
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing are required. Visual abilities are necessary. The role involves lifting less than 40 lbs., understanding vague instructions, recalling facts, handling conflicts, and decision-making under pressure.
