Overview
Climate Adaptation Project Manager I/II- DEHE Climate Initiatives at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). The role provides planning, project development, and project management services to Alaska communities to adapt to climate change. Depending on assignment, the job title may be changed to Climate Adaptation Project Manager.
Responsibilities- Support communities to develop and implement climate adaptation and hazard mitigation projects and programs in collaboration with Federal, State, and Tribal partners.
- Support community planning, including development of climate adaptation strategies, adaptation plans, and integration of climate adaptation actions into other plans.
- Develop and manage community climate adaptation projects with community staff and leadership, agencies, consultants, and other project management staff.
- Develop and implement assessments, surveys, data collection, data analysis, and monitoring for various ANTHC and community climate adaptation initiatives.
- Serve as the technical point of contact with multiple communities to provide climate adaptation planning and science recommendations; provide technical assistance, direction, and guidance to communities, Tribal organizations, and other teams on planning, project development, design, and construction activities.
- Collaborate with communities to understand needs and priorities; develop scopes of work and cost estimates for climate adaptation projects.
- Work with communities, partners, and ANTHC’s Grant Planning and Development Department to identify project funding sources, secure funding, and manage funding.
- Review and approve standard cooperative project agreements; develop project work plans; schedule and adjust project activities as needed.
- Establish and manage consultant contracts to meet schedules; maintain project documentation; track progress with project management tools; complete progress reports for external funding agencies; monitor quality control/quality assurance for all project activities.
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets and contracts; review and approve all contracted projects to ensure program requirements and community needs are met; complete closeout procedures and reports.
- Assist and support ANTHC leadership in achieving goals and objectives; perform other duties as assigned.

Under close supervision, supports planning, scope development, funding acquisition, implementation, and closeout of climate adaptation projects. - Climate Adaptation Project Manager II
:
Under general supervision, supports planning, scope development, funding acquisition, implementation, and closeout of climate adaptation projects. - Climate Adaptation Project Manager III
:
Under limited supervision, manages complex climate adaptation programs with multiple projects and provides leadership and supervision to staff.
- Knowledge of climate change and its impacts in Alaska; trends and best practices in climate adaptation and resilience in Alaska;
Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s). - Knowledge of rural Alaska infrastructure practices, operations, and development; project management principles for engineering, design, and construction of infrastructure in rural Alaska.
- Knowledge of erosion, flooding, permafrost degradation impacts on rural Alaska community infrastructure; understanding of solutions and external partners in rural infrastructure development and climate adaptation.
- Skills in incorporating climate science into project design and planning; identifying and assessing exposure and vulnerability to climate change and natural hazards; developing adaptation measures and policies; facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with federal/state agencies, coworkers, contractors, and diverse communities; reading and evaluating technical drawings; evaluating contractor/consultant work for compliance; operating a PC with various applications.
