Job Overview
A Senior Process Engineer is sought for the Anchorage, Alaska office to support the development of one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits. Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Process Engineer will provide technical expertise across project design, feasibility, and construction planning. The role includes direct engineering work as well as leadership of team members and consultants, with active involvement in updating management and joint venture partners on project progress.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead and complete process engineering components for scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies.
- Understand project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinate and guide the process engineering team to achieve project objectives.
- Interpret, clarify, and implement engineering and design information to address technical issues.
- Develop process engineering deliverables, including design criteria, mass and energy balances, and test work definitions.
- Define process block flow diagrams and unit operations.
- Collaborate with other discipline engineers to maintain alignment with process requirements.
- Conduct tradeoff studies to evaluate and resolve process options.
- Interface and coordinate with technology subject matter experts (SMEs), external consultants, and vendors for process design input.
- Scope, manage, and identify necessary process test work both onsite and in laboratories.
- Oversee the development and implementation of process technology.
- Provide technical guidance on complex projects and approve project plans.
- Review and/or develop equipment specifications, evaluate test equipment performance, and make recommendations for equipment selection and purchase.
- Complete other related tasks essential for project success.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
- Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in the design, engineering, commissioning, and operation of minerals processing equipment.
- Proven leadership in technical management and engineering planning for mining projects.
- Experience with scoping and managing metallurgical test work programs.
- Experience in gold and precious metal sulfide flotation with refractory gold preferred.
- Familiarity with technical requirements for prefeasibility and feasibility studies and public disclosure documents (NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC).
- Proficiency in hazard identification and management processes (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA).
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and simulation programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Qualified Person per SEC requirements (preferred).
- Strong understanding of both organic and inorganic chemistry (preferred).
- Willingness to travel for laboratory, contractor, and site visits, especially during construction.
- Current authorization to work in the United States required.
- Successful completion of background clearance, physical, and drug screening required.
