. Donlin Gold is recruiting a Senior Process Engineer for one of the world's largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned by Donlin Gold LLC, a partnership of NOVAGOLD Resources and Paulson Advisers LLC. Donlin Gold aims to produce more than one million ounces of gold annually.
The Senior Process Engineer will provide technical input into project design and review, performing direct engineering work and guiding consultants and team members. The role covers capacity in engineering, project management and feasibility, and construction planning, with up‑stream communication of design progress to Donlin management and JV partners.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and complete process engineering components for scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies.
- Understand project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinate and guide the process engineering team to deliver project objectives.
- Coordinate and assist with interpreting, clarifying and implementing engineering and design information for technical issues.
- Develop process engineering deliverables, including test work definitions, design criteria, mass & energy balances, etc.
- Define the process block flow diagram and unit operations.
- Liaise with other discipline engineers to ensure designs conform to process requirements.
- Undertake tradeoff studies to resolve options.
- Interface and coordinate with other technology subject matter experts (SMEs), external consultants and technology vendors for input to the process design.
- Identify, scope and manage process test work (on site or laboratory based).
- Oversee the development and implementation of process technology.
- Provide technical guidance on complex problems and approve project plans.
- Review and/or develop technical equipment specifications, evaluate pilot or test equipment performance, and make final recommendations/selection towards equipment purchases.
- Other related tasks required to ensure project success.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
- Understand the technical requirements and deliverables for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies related to mining and public disclosure documents (NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC).
- Experience in Gold and precious metal sulfide flotation with refractory gold preferred.
- Technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, and application of engineering methods.
- Hazard identification and management processes such as HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA.
- Good working knowledge of computer-aided design tools and simulation programs.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in design, engineering, commissioning, and operation of minerals processing equipment.
- Leadership experience in technical management.
- Experience in scoping and managing metallurgical test work programs.
- Experience in engineering planning for studies and projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Qualified Person per SEC requirements.
- Strong understanding of both organic and inorganic chemistry.
This position is based in the Anchorage office, and the selected candidate must be willing to travel to visit labs and contractors and conduct site visits, especially during construction. A post-offer criminal background clearance, physical and drug screening are required. Open until filled. Candidates must possess current authorization to work in the United States.
