PND Engineers is seeking a self‑motivated, proactive individual to assist and train with our professional land surveyors in a survey technician or land‑surveyor‑in‑training role. This is a great opportunity to launch a career that offers a nice mix of technical office work, based in Anchorage, and field survey work throughout Alaska. This is a full‑time, year‑round position.

• Assist with boundary surveys, GNSS control networks, as‑built design/topographic surveys, bathymetry, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and aerial imagery.
• Perform computations and draft client deliverables in AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Utilize various software packages for drafting, spatial data analysis and adjustment, LiDAR data processing, and orthomosaic aerial imagery processing.
• Assist with planning and logistics for fieldwork.
• Perform property boundary research.
• Maintain tools and instruments used in the field.
• Travel for out‑of‑town work, sometimes with overnight stays. Worksites range from urban to remote settings. Typical project durations vary from three to ten days. Overall travel commitment is approximately 30% but varies from season to season.
• Observe safety policies and procedures.

• Two years of relevant work experience or surveying/geomatics education background. Candidates with a PLS license or more extensive work experience will be considered.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Experience with GIS data and software suites preferred.
• Willingness, self‑motivation, and openness to learning new tasks, methods, instrumentation, and software packages.
• Ability to work safely in the outdoors, in all weather and temperature conditions, and to lift/ carry up to 50 lbs over uneven terrain.
• Ability and willingness to travel by various means including: small aircraft, helicopters, boats, passenger vehicles, snow machines, and all‑terrain vehicles.
• Experience with Trimble GNSS equipment, Trimble laser scanners, robotic total stations, and/or working knowledge of the software and related survey computations preferred.
• Field‑to‑finish work experience for base mapping projects, record of surveys, and platting activities desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with competent and safe operation of passenger vehicles, boats, snow machines, and all‑terrain vehicles is preferred.
• Good driving record and valid Alaska driver’s license.
