The Department of Family & Community Services is recruiting for a Building Management Specialist in Anchorage!
This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.
What You Will Be DoingThis position is primarily responsible for the management of the Dept of Family and Community Services’ (DFCS) capital development and deferred maintenance projects. Responsibilities can include preparation of specifications and design documents of inclusion in construction contracts, developing project budgets, functioning as the department (DFCS) representative once projects are funded, and inspecting work for compliance. All job functions must be completed in accordance with the applicable laws, statutes, regulations, administrative manuals, policies and procedures for procurement.
Specific tasks include managing construction projects from inception to conclusion. Including coordination with the project contractor, DOT/PF engineers, design and engineering consultants, and stakeholders from the divisions.

This position will be filled in Anchorage. The Anchorage office is in the Frontier Building, located in midtown Anchorage. This office has been recently renovated and offers a vibrant setting and ample parking as well as several stores or restaurants within walking distance.
A typical workday in this position might include monitoring and maintaining construction contracts, managing construction projects and professional services contracts, reviewing bid proposals, developing and facilitating a variety of construction solicitations, responding to email, traveling to local facilities, or meeting with project contractors and stakeholders.
While telework isn’t typical, we support flexibility and balance through alternate schedules and leave options.
