Aircraft Maintenance Specialist – U.S. Air Force Reserve

. It takes hundreds of tactical aircraft to carry out our missions, including attack planes, fighters, and strike fighters. As a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist you work with aircrew to ensure every part of these finely tuned machines is maintained to meet the highest standards. In doing so, you’ll keep our aircraft and Airmen ready to withstand disasters, respond to emergencies, and take down threats at a moment’s notice.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on tactical aircraft and aircraft‑installed equipment.
- Preflight: inspect and perform various functional checks of the aircraft as well as ensure that the aircraft has been properly serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid, and liquid oxygen.
- Postflight: ensure the aircraft is still in “operationally ready” condition.
- Perform general mechanical work as opposed to working on a particular system or subsystem.

- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of high school courses in physics, pneudraulics, and electronics is desirable
- ASVAB score of 47 on Mechanical
- Eligibility for top‑secret security clearance
- 8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio‑Lackland, TX, followed by Technical Training
