Description
Electric Power Systems, Inc. is a unique company offering a wide range of experience and education in power system operations, design, consultation, studies, petroleum industry controls, and general engineered systems. We provide extensive services from planning studies, design and construction to periodic testing and maintenance. We are currently seeking a skilled Substation Technician to join our Anchorage Substation Tech team.
ResponsibilitiesThe Substation Technician will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of substation and generation apparatus.
Duties include:
- Perform field testing and documentation without oversight.
- Coordinate with supporting team members to respond to quote requests and assist with company projects.
- Manage small project client interactions and estimating.
- Balance office/administrative tasks with field testing responsibilities.
Req'd
Education:
Associate degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school.
Req'd
Experience:
10+ years demonstrated experience in high voltage power relaying, controls, and/or substation apparatus.
Preferred:
Engineering degree, specific substation technician apprenticeship, or applicable military training.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record and readiness to travel extensively throughout Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and the South Pacific.
Technical Proficiencies:
Microsoft Word and Excel (must), NETA or NICET Power Testing certificates (plus).

- ETI PI-2500 test set
- AC Hi‑Pot test set
- 10/200A DLRO test set
- Transformer Ratiometer test set
- Megohmmeter test set
