Overview
The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358).
The Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Alaska State Troopers, is currently recruiting to fill Court Services Officers (CSO) positions around the state.
SalaryAnchorage = $36.83 per hour
Fairbanks = $37.93 per hour
Juneau = $40.78 per hour
TrainingQualified applicants will be attending the Department of Public Safety Training academy beginning July 2026 and January 2027.
What You Will Be DoingCourt Services Officers (CSOs) are a unique class of officers who work under the general direction and command of AST. They provide:
- Physical security of courtrooms, chambers, and other spaces of the courts including the grounds of court facilities.
- Coordinating and providing prisoner transport.
- Serving court writs.
- Providing protective details and security for judicial officers.
Their primary focus is prisoner transportation, process service, court security, and judicial protection.

Working Conditions You Can ExpectMultiple positions available with unique opportunities.
- Fairbanks – Central access to world hunting, fishing, and recreation with modern city convenience. Base of operations at Rabinowitz Courthouse. Provide judiciary security to Utquagvik; farthest North court location.
- Juneau – Region‑wide paper service, evictions, prisoner transports between Lemon Creek Correctional Center, Anchorage airport, and Southeast Alaska area. Conduct out‑of‑state fugitive extraditions and courtroom security.
- Anchorage – Downtown Anchorage on the main Alaska Court System campus. Local and regional prisoner transports, site security, writ services, and judiciary protection.
- 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Conversant in English (written and spoken).
- Not disqualified from any portion of a prior formal background investigation in the last twelve months.
- Valid Driver's License at time of hire.

- Naturalization Certificate with photo (if naturalized).
- Certified official high school transcripts or GED testing results.
- Certified official college transcripts (post‑secondary education).
Extensive background investigation includes police, military, corrections, local court, law enforcement, Interpol, and other government records.
