Position Overview
Community Care Licensing Specialist 1 (OCS). The position is currently undergoing a review as part of the ongoing Community Care Licensing Specialist job class study; the title and pay range may change upon completion of the study. The position is open to Alaska residents only.
Responsibilities- Recruit, support, assess, investigate, and license individuals across Alaska to provide foster care.
- Actively recruit and support resource families to establish nurturing home environments for the healthy development of children.
- License and investigate Child Placement Agencies across the state.
- Conduct investigations per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315.
- Collaborate with state agencies, tribes, and community partners to ensure child safety and permanency.

Work EnvironmentThe position is located in the Anchorage Regional Office, mid‑town off Tudor Road, within walking distance to several amenities.

- This position requires a valid Alaska driver’s license.
- While the Division has vehicles assigned, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used. Personal vehicle insurance must be in place before use.
- A child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315, including a background and fingerprint check.
- The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses located in Anchorage.

Qualifications- Training or education in social services, education, health care, mental health, juvenile justice, or a closely related field.
- Progressively responsible technical or professional experience in one or more of those fields.
- Proficiency with the competencies listed above.
