WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Court Services Officers (CSOs) are a unique class of officers who work under the general direction and command of the Alaska State Troopers. CSOs conduct duties for the Commissioner of Public Safety under AS , including providing physical security of courtrooms, chambers and other court facilities; coordinating and providing prisoner transport; serving court writs; and providing protective details and security for judicial officers.

WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECTPositions are available in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau, each offering unique opportunities and environments.
LOCATION‑SPECIFIC INFORMATIONFairbanks: The court services office is located in the Rabinowitz Courthouse. CSOs provide judiciary security, including at Utkuagvik—the farthest north court location in Alaska.
Juneau: Based out of the Juneau Courthouse Judicial Services Office. CSOs conduct regional paper service, prisoner transport, out‑of‑state fugitive extraditions, and courtroom security.
Anchorage: Located in downtown Anchorage on the main Alaska Court System campus. CSOs conduct local and regional prisoner transports, physical site security, writ services, and judiciary protection.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- 18 years of age or older at the time of hire
- High school diploma or GED
- Conversant in written and spoken English
- Valid driver’s license
- Not disqualified from a formal background investigation in the last twelve months
- Constituent of all mandatory background, physical fitness, and drug screening requirements
Qualified applicants will attend the Department of Public Safety Training Academy beginning July 2026 or January 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide physical security of courtrooms, chambers, and auxiliary court facilities
- Coordinate and provide prisoner transport to and from court, correctional facilities, and other obligations
- Serve court writs and other court documents within stipulated time frames
- Provide protective details and security for judges, court staff, and other judicial officers
- Assist in court evacuation and emergency response activities as directed
- Assist in traffic and incident control within the court property and surrounding area
Applicants will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, including fingerprinting, medical and psychological evaluations, drug screening, and a physical agility test. Successful completion of a security clearance is required to access criminal justice information systems.
INITIAL PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST: All applicants must pass the initial physical fitness test to continue in the application process. Details can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Time of testing:
March 2‑6, 2026, May 11‑15, 2026, or July 6‑10, 2026.

- Police or academy certification for former law‑enforcement officers
- Military discharge or separation papers for former military members
- Driving record abstract (U.S. and foreign, if applicable)
- Official translations of documents issued in languages other than English
