Prepares tissue specimens for diagnostic examination by fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy (cutting/mounting), routine / special staining; performs routine instrument operations with working knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting protocol; evaluates routine / special stains for expected reactivity and quality of section; maintains records of special stain control results and department statistics as required. Performs automated immunohistochemistry staining and assists with quality assurance activities including procedure development and written protocols.

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 8‑hr night shifts, 40 hours per week.

• Associate's degree from an accredited program with 12 semester (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry OR
• At least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) OR
• Completion of a certified histology program approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
• National Histotechnician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology upon hire OR
• National Histotechnologist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology upon hire AND
• 1 year of experience as a HT I or as a histotechnician / histotechnologist in a hospital histology lab or similar setting.

Pay Range: $33.63 - $52.22
