Medical Billing Technician

Position Summary:
The Medical Billing Technician, in coordination with and under the immediate direction of the Lead Medical Billing Technician, is responsible for Medical Billing of Professional Services provided by Akeela Staff and contractors.
- Preparing and Management of Client Record and Activities
- Preparing Claims for Processing
- Maintain electronic and physical client billing files
- Knowledge of compiling monthly numbers for GL Entry
- Representing department communications with regard to staff
- Understanding and applying current required state regulations in reference to Akeela Services
- Understanding the overall general functions of the EHR
- Assist in annual agency audit preparation
- Participate in appropriate meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience )
- Ability to learn new software programs
- Detail oriented
- Ability to follow written desk procedures and verbal instructions to completion
- Ability to ask questions for clarification of processes
- Computer skills to perform specific duties and essential functions listed above
- Acceptable written and verbal communication skills and ability to use those skills in effective communication with other employees, clients and vendors
- Ability to multi‑task and handle interruptions efficiently
- Self‑motivated, strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Willingness to take on full responsibility of the listed job duties
- Ability to work as a team member of the Finance Department
- Ability to adhere to established work schedule
- Willingness to pass pre‑employment test
- Physical tolerance for a sedentary job and ability to work with computers and other equipment for several hours per day
- High school diploma or equivalent
- PC literate to include keyboarding and 10‑key by touch, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet research
- Operational knowledge of office equipment (copiers, scanners, fax machines, postage machine, etc.)
- Personal vehicle and valid Alaska Driver’s License and auto insurance coverage
- Entry level
