Senior Mental Health Counselor (Master's) – Part Time

Location:

Providence Alaska Medical Center, Anchorage, AK

Job Schedule:

Part‑time, 0.6 FTE, Night shifts, 24 hours per week

Description

The Clinical Assessment Specialist is a licensed professional with a master's degree in the social services fields. They serve as a member of the emergency/acute care clinical team to provide psychiatric risk assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation, and crisis intervention to patients and families in both the Medical and Psychiatric Emergency Departments.

Other services provided include telephonic and in‑person dissemination of up‑to‑date referral information regarding community programs, telephonic consultation with multi‑disciplinary professionals in the community, management of a 24‑hour crisis line, and assistance for all inquiries regarding mental health services and matching patient needs with services and reimbursement sources.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric risk assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients and families.
  • Deliver telephonic and in‑person referral information on community programs.
  • Consult with multidisciplinary professionals in the community.
  • Manage 24‑hour crisis line calls and coordinate appropriate services.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field, or Ph.D. in Psychology or related field.
  • Alaska Master’s Social Worker License, Alaska Clinical Social Worker License, Alaska Psychologist License, Alaska Marriage and Family Therapist License, or Alaska Professional Counselor License, upon hire.
  • 3 years of clinical experience in the mental health field.
