Medical Lab Scientist PRN – Alaska Regional Hospital
Join our highly functioning Laboratory team where you will support patient care by performing tests, maintaining equipment, and providing critical lab results.
Responsibilities- Receive blood specimens, perform tests, analyze morphology.
- Execute routine or special clinical laboratory tests across various sections using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis.
- Maintain equipment including chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
- Perform antibody screening, identification, and cross-matching for blood transfusion programs.
- Notify nursing units and physicians of critical lab values.
- Implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or related sciences; associate’s degree acceptable with appropriate experience.
- Nationally recognized certification (MT/MLS/MLT) from ASCP or equivalent.
- 3‑5 years of laboratory experience.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or A‑BLS) and certification.
