Position
Purpose:
Accurately and efficiently cook breakfast items and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Also, perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates. Prepares food items, on the assigned station(s), in accordance with recipes and standards while maintaining a neat and clean work environment in a safe, accident‑free manner.

Average Percent of Time
- 50% Cooks, prepares/produces all meals for restaurants suitable, for consumption according to standard recipes to ensure consistency of product to the guest. Visually inspects, selects and uses all food items of the highest quality in the preparation of all menu items.
- 15% Keeps an adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures proper storage of all food products and portion control, eg., especially high-cost items
- 10% Keeps spoilage/waste to a minimum by utilizing proper quantities and rotating products.
- 10% Keeps all refrigeration, storage, and working areas in clean, working condition to comply with health department regulations
- 5% Organizes and transfers food items into lexans as needed, label and date for proper use and identification.
- 5% Turns on or off all kitchen equipment, such as stoves, ovens, grills, broilers, heat lamps, steamers, fryers, etc. and ensures all is in proper working condition.
- Keeps floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning product as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Assists in assigning duties to prep cook and/or pantry cook.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to the manager and engineering department for service.
- Sets up and maintains stock of daily food preparation.
- Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor, such as moving supplies and equipment, etc.
The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all time. Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with JL Hospitality Management rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Associates who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subjected to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
