Join the Alaska Department of Health’s Public Health Data Modernization Team and help transform how we manage and protect vital health data statewide. You’ll lead innovative database modernization efforts using cloud‑first solutions and Microsoft technologies, ensuring data is accurate, secure, and accessible. Drive meaningful change through advanced analytics, cross‑program collaboration, and future‑ready systems.
Responsibilities- Lead database modernization projects utilizing cloud‑first solutions and Microsoft technologies.
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility across systems.
- Collaborate with cross‑program teams to implement analytics and data governance.
- Design, optimize, and maintain database architectures and performance.
- Support continuous improvement and future‑oriented data initiatives.
- Database expertise: proficiency in database management and modernization, knowledge of database design and optimization.
- Passion for data and ability to leverage data for impact.
- Problem‑solving skills and collaborative mindset.
- Technical knowledge: entity relationship diagramming, data warehousing, cloud‑based database technologies, and best practices in Microsoft SQL Server administration (Microsoft experience preferred, other systems valued).
- Service continuity: solid ability in database service continuity, reliability, and availability design.
- Minimum qualifications per level (summarized):
- Level 1:
Four years programming experience, including database programming; or equivalent. - Level 2:
One year database management experience equivalent to Level 1. - Level 3:
Two years database management experience equivalent to Level 2.
