What You Will Be Doing
In your role as Paralegal Specialist 1, you will supervise a team of five paralegals in the Office of Special Prosecutions and help members of your community who are directly impacted by crime. You will assist victims and witnesses in understanding their rights and navigating the criminal justice system, providing updates throughout the life of a case and informing them of available resources.
Your responsibilities include building relationships with law enforcement, court personnel, and victim advocates, and playing an integral role in the prosecution team to resolve legal issues.

Office work at 310 K Street, Ste 701, Anchorage, AK 99501 with Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM hours. Team leadership in multiple areas of law with minimal travel.

Minimum Qualifications

- Law
:
Knowledge of state and federal laws, court procedures, regulations, precedents, evidence admissibility, case preparation, and settlements. - Compliance

Ability to assess, evaluate, and monitor programs for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. - Leadership

Understanding of legal codes, court procedures, government regulations, agency rules, and the democratic process. - Technical Credibility

Applies principles, procedures, and policies relevant to specialized legal expertise.
These competencies are typically acquired through post‑secondary or vocational education in a legal, paralegal, criminal justice, or related field, or progressive experience in legal, law‑enforcement, or legislative support.
Special NotePositions may require the incumbent to obtain a Notary Public upon hire and pass a criminal background check for access to APSIN and NCIC/NLETS. Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required to support assigned attorneys as noted in the vacancy announcement.
