Presently, Cornerstone is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Manager.

The Controller is an exempt position and is a financial leader responsible for the integrity of Cornerstone’s financial operations, reporting, and controls. This role provides strategic oversight for the organization while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and project teams.
The Controller oversees accounting operations, construction project financial performance, compliance, and financial reporting, while leading the accounting team and driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and controls. This position plays a critical role in supporting organizational growth, risk management, and long-term financial strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide executive oversight of all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, treasury, and banking relationships.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, establishing performance expectations, accountability, and succession planning.
- Provide strategic oversight of all aspects of construction project accounting, including:
- Initial project setup in accounting software with cost codes, budgets, and contract values.
- Partner with project managers and executives to monitor budgets, cost-to-complete, cash flow, and overall job profitability.
- Preparation and review of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and job cost reports.
- Management of billing, change orders, retainage tracking, and subcontractor requisitions.
- Reconciliation of project costs and validation of revenue recognition in alignment with project milestones.
- Oversee company-wide cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital strategy related to project execution.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting, including monthly closes, quarterly reviews, year-end financial statements, and executive reporting packages.
- Lead all financial audits, tax coordination, and external reporting requirements, serving as the primary point of contact with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead the development, monitoring, and analysis of company-wide and project-level budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial projections, providing strategic insights to executive leadership.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor payment processes, ensuring proper lien releases, compliance documentation, and adherence to contract terms.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with GAAP, company standards, and applicable laws while mitigating financial and operational risk.
- Monitor and improve accounting systems and workflows to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with project teams, executives, and other departments to ensure financial alignment and promote informed decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with union requirements, certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage obligations, and other construction-related regulations.
- Lead financial systems strategy, process improvement, automation, and optimization efforts across accounting and project financial systems to support scalability and efficiency.
