About the Role

The Facilities & Operations Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of ABC’s Equity Center and overall operations. This position is ideal for someone who is hands‑on, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities—someone who thrives in a fast‑moving, mission‑driven environment and can work independently while staying deeply connected to ABC’s purpose.

The right candidate will bring both practical know-how and strategic thinking—able to manage day‑to‑day facilities and operations needs while anticipating what’s next and helping ABC grow sustainably.

The Alaska Black Caucus (ABC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization asserting the constitutional rights of African Americans in Alaska. We advocate for the lives and livelihoods of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color across Alaska through education, empowerment, and advocacy. Working at ABC means joining a vibrant community dedicated to advancing equity and justice while fostering connection and opportunity for all Alaskans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations and facility management of ABC’s Equity Center, ensuring a welcoming and functional space for community members.
  • Manage logistics and on‑site support for programs, meetings, and frequent community events (including evenings and weekends).
  • Serve as a key liaison for vendors, contractors, and building services.
  • Support organizational systems and processes—tracking supplies, equipment, and operational needs to ensure smooth functioning across programs.
  • Coordinate technology, scheduling, and basic IT support for events and staff use of the facility.
  • Assist in project management for organizational initiatives, ensuring deliverables are on track and aligned with ABC’s mission and values.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities management, operations, or a related field—ideally in a small organization or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong project management and problem‑solving skills; able to anticipate needs and work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and ABC’s mission to advocate for the lives and livelihoods of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully across a diverse community.
  • Technical comfort with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and general facility systems.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for ABC events and programs.
What We Offer
  • A dynamic, mission‑driven environment where your work makes a real difference.
  • A chance to grow and shape a key role in a growing organization.
  • Deep connection to community, culture, and impact.
  • A supportive team that values collaboration and innovation.
  • Although we are not able to offer health insurance benefits, many of our employees get coverage through the Affordable Care Act with premium discounts.
